Multi-Disciplinary Joint UiTM-OU Collaboration

SHAH ALAM - 9 Dec. 2011 – Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) is on track with its agenda to pursue scholarships and academic excellence at international level through proposed collaborations with its long-time American partner, Ohio University (OU).
During a courtesy call to UiTM Vice Chancellor, Dato' Prof. Ir. Dr. Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar, in Shah Alam today, a delegation from OU headed by its President Dr Roderick J. McDavis, had agreed on several proposals for joint-initiatives involving academics as well as students from different faculties in UiTM.
The proposed collaborations will see the establishment of joint-programme in Business Communications, Speech and Hearing, apart from joint-research in various areas of common interest with UiTM’s Faculty of Medicine. Plans are also underway to organise joint-international festival involving the Faculty of Theatre, Animation and Film, as well as starting a research, teaching and internship collaboration with the Faculty of Communication & Media Studies and the School of Music.
Both UiTM and OU will also collaborate on the publication of the OU Review, besides establishing the UiTM-OU Chemical Engineering Institute of Corrosion. Other collaborative initiatives include the organisation of joint-seminars on the creation of new products and services, and also the introduction of the Malaysia International Summer School 2013 project involving students from relevant disciplines.
